Like peace officers, public safety dispatchers have a duty to serve the entire community in a manner that is fair and without bias. This telecourse assists dispatchers in reviewing and enhancing the knowledge and skills they may already have in cultural competency. Topics include: 1) definition of Cultural Competency; 2) laws pertaining to cultural diversity; 3) why it is vital for dispatchers to learn and care about Cultural Competency; and 4) basic skills associated with being Culturally Competent.
