The first in a two-part telecourse series on gangs and drugs, this video provides a comprehensive current look at the way gangs work. The program teaches officers how to identify criminal street gangs, then goes inside two state prisons to discover how prison gangs influence gangs on the street. Features in-depth interviews with California law enforcement personnel who specialize in gangs and gangs awareness training, plus presents special interviews with state prison inmates who have recently dropped out of their prison gangs. The program also examines current gang trends, with an emphasis on the impact that such trends may have on officer safety.
