Provides specific law enforcement training addressing the unique issues of interacting with persons who have Autism Spectrum Disorders (per Senate Bill 1531). Designed to help law enforcement better recognize and respond to this growing population and to improve communication, reduce risk situations, and resolve issues with more positive outcomes.

Discusses the epidemic of Autism Spectrum Disorders and the impact of the growth of autism on law enforcement and first responders. Details what autism is, what to look for when encountering someone with autism, and demonstrates how to better approach and communicate with persons with autism. Details some of the interactions that officers may encounter in the field and demonstrates best-case practices.
