Promotes understanding and respect for racial and cultural differences and the development of effective, non-combative methods of carrying out law enforcement duties in a racially and culturally diverse environment. Teaches the basics of cultural competency by presenting a variety of scenes illustrating some of the common calls for service that officers encounter in the field. In each scenario, the viewer enters the door of the crime to view best practices for handling the call. Topics covered include Asian, disabled, and gay/lesbian community cultures and issues; Latino community cultural concerns; Muslim community and immersion training; Domestic violence as a matter of culture; and Racial profiling overview.
